  4. Accomplish the meridian of Apocrypha.
  5. Confront Miraak and kill him.

Detailed Walkthrough [edit]

Chapter I [edit]

With the complete Bend Will shout at your disposal, information technology is at present time to face up Miraak. If you have not already washed so, and are however in the Skaal village, take Epistolary Apprehending from Storn Crag-Strider's body before entering, as it will not be there when you render.

Using dragon souls, unlock the remaining words of the Bend Volition shout and read the Black Volume Waking Dreams, where Miraak was first encountered during the quest The Temple of Miraak. You will exist transported to Apocrypha, Hermaeus Mora's aeroplane of Oblivion. Though this area is large, in that location'southward footling of interest hither at present that Miraak has departed, merely a few pods and tables along the walls. Walk down the path and up the staircase, where Chapter II will be accessible from a pedestal.

Chapter 2 [edit]

Ascend the stairs and defeat the two seekers. If you brand enough noise, you can attract the attention of enemies far above y'all, only it is unlikely that yous will be able to attack each other, and so if you need to leave combat, just sneak until they cease looking for you. At the top of the stairs, a copy of the Smithing skill book Heavy Armor Forging is on a table to the right. When yous get across the bridge, you tin turn correct and walk back along the narrow ledge to reach a pod. On the top landing, take hold of the book Boneless Limbs and go up the now-accessible staircase to reach Chapter Iii.

Affiliate Iii [edit]

This side by side area may be a chip tricky to navigate, due to its maze-like construction. Defeat whatsoever seeker you encounter and make your way to the other end of the room, where the book Delving Pincers and a copy of the Alchemy skill book Song of the Alchemists prevarication. There is a pod across from the volume pedestal and another down the stairs past it. Later on picking upwardly Delving Pincers, return to the entrance, where the (previously closed) gate is now open. Activate the scrye and travel down the hall, where you can option up a copy of the Enchanting skill book Catalogue of Weapon Enchantments from the table.

Exist careful in the side by side room, where it is piece of cake to fall off of the edge. If you actuate the scrye in this room, a door will open off to the north, revealing a vessel with a chip of loot (there are also pods by the scrye and book pedestal hither). Kill the seeker and traverse the narrow walkways to choice up the book Prying Orbs. With the book in your possession, the gate will open up, and you can at present continue onward to Chapter Four.

Chapter Four [edit]

Eliminate the seekers and walk down the stairs to either side of yous. There is a pod on a ledge to your right. At the bottom, yous will enter a hallway that has a fork to the right. Walking into either hallway volition cause information technology to shrink and summon a group of seekers. After y'all find that both hallways are a dead end, you lot tin can turn around and see that, where y'all had entered, in that location is a hallway that had not been there previously. Follow it to the next room.

Climb the stairs and choice upwardly the volume Gnashing Blades. This will open a 2nd path to the correct, directly across from where you entered. Continue down the hallway every bit it extends outward and take a left turn at its end. In this next room, follow the path until you lot reach a scrye. Activate it and get back to the same hallway y'all came from—it has shifted and leads to a room with a small pool of poisonous h2o. From the pool will rise a lurker. When the room is clear, actuate the scrye to the left of the closed gate and go around a corner at the far cease of the room (across from the previously mentioned airtight gate). Hither, activate the second scrye and examine the room next to it, which had been opened by the outset scrye, for whatsoever valuables. You can discover Affiliate V through the gate opened past the second scrye.

Chapter V [edit]

The hallway will lead you to a large open up room with a pillar in the middle emitting a green low-cal. Defeat the seekers.

Surrounding the primal pillar are 4 pedestals with inscriptions. On the walls near the heart and tentacle pillars, there are three pods. Place the 4 books that were collected in the previous Chapters on the advisable pedestal:

  • Boneless Limbs is placed on the 'tentacle' symbol
  • Delving Pincers is placed on the 'pincer' symbol
  • Prying Orbs is placed on the 'eye' symbol
  • Gnashing Blades is placed on the 'fangs' symbol

One time all 4 books are placed correctly, the book located in front of the central pillar will glow. This will take you to Chapter VI.

In that location are iii pods forth the wall, before going to the key book.

Affiliate Half dozen [edit]

A copy of the Destruction skill book The Fine art of War Magic is located to the right of the archway, while at the left, in that location is a pod with some valuable loot. The path will take you to a big open expanse surrounded by h2o. Impale the 2 seekers and arroyo the word wall, which teaches a word for the Dragon Aspect shout. Sahrotaar, a serpentine dragon, will assault you; however, you are tasked with taming it using Curve Will. Using the total shout on Sahrotaar (be sure to unlock all iii words) will instantly tame him. He will country and offer to have y'all to Miraak. Mount Sahrotaar and fly to the large belfry circled past dragons, just not before forcing you to fight enemies on another platform. Later on yous kill the two Seekers and the Lurker, Sahrotaar will fly towards Miraak'southward tower. Every bit you lot reach the pinnacle, Miraak will chide Sahrotaar for being so easily swayed by your thu'um. In one case yous land, approach Miraak, who will explicate that his fourth dimension in Apocrypha is done, and that although y'all are powerful, y'all are still subject to Miraak's power. Miraak will then conclude that the last key for his escape is your soul, and with it he will be stiff enough to return to Solstheim.

Miraak arresting a dragon soul

The conversation volition quickly end and the battle will commence. Information technology is completely upwardly to you as to how you lot would similar to battle, either on the back of Sahrotaar or on foot. However, be careful of the other dragons trying to attack you. Equally Miraak's health is weakened, he volition enter an invulnerable state and render to full health. Each time he regenerates, he will cede a dragon: first Kruziikrel, then Relonikiv. The third regeneration will lead to Sahrotaar'due south demise, equally Miraak absorbs his soul, too. With all three dragons eliminated, you can deal the final blows to Miraak. When his health is low enough, he will move to the centre of the surface area in an endeavour to escape. At this signal, Hermaeus Mora will intervene, challenge that Miraak can hide nothing from him in his realm. The Daedric Prince then impales Miraak with a tentacle, and explains to Miraak that his death is insignificant, equally he has plant a new Dragonborn to 'serve' him. As Miraak dies, he wishes upon you the same fate he is about to suffer, so disintegrates into zippo simply bones equally his soul departs from his body and is absorbed by you.

For Miraak's expiry, yous will be rewarded with at least half-dozen dragon souls (additional number of dragon souls is equal to the number of dragons you've killed in the plug-in, regardless of whether their souls are stolen past Miraak or not) and you may loot his body for his equipment, as well as the bodies of the dragons. Reading the Black Book Waking Dreams will allow you to gain admission to your skill trees (run into the notes section). Read the book once again to exit Apocrypha.

Achievements [edit]

One achievement is unlocked when y'all complete this quest:

  • SR-achievement-At the Summit of Apocrypha.png At the Summit of Apocrypha (40 points/Silver)

Reaching the cease of Waking Dreams counts equally i of the five black books for this accomplishment:

  • SR-achievement-Hidden Knowledge.png Hidden Knowledge (twoscore points/Statuary)

If this is the first time y'all've fully traversed Waking Dreams you may earn the final word of the Dragon Aspect shout and thus this achievement:

  • SR-achievement-Dragon Aspect.png Dragon Attribute (twenty points/Argent)

Notes [edit]

  • If you fully traversed Waking Dreams before this quest, you will be returned to Chapter VI, where Sahrotaar volition be waiting for y'all. You must then use Curve Will to tame him and proceed the quest, every bit above.
  • At the end of the quest, you lot will have admission to unlike portals (i for each skill) which allow you to articulate and regain any perks in that skill tree, at the cost of one dragon soul. You remove all perks from a single skill perk tree and can use these reclaimed perks on unlocking any perks you wish, including perks taken from said perk tree. By reading the Black Book Waking Dreams, you can return to Apocrypha and alter the skill copse whenever yous wish.
  • Completing this quest as well cleanses the Tree Stone, granting y'all admission to its power.
  • If you are defeated during this quest, before confronting Miraak, you volition be transported dorsum to where you initially read Waking Dreams. You will return to the affiliate you lot last accessed when re-entering Apocrypha.
  • If you return to Skaal Village later completing this quest, Frea will inform you that the Oneness of the land has been restored, and that the Tree Stone is at present free. She volition also warn you not to get involved further with Hermaeus Mora.
  • If you lot return to Tel Mithryn afterward completing this quest, Neloth will check that you take no indications of Hermaeus Mora'south permanent influence. After satisfying himself that yous don't, he will direct you to find more Black Books, if you take not found them all already.
  • In lodge to travel to Apocrypha past reading Waking Dreams, you must exist on Solstheim. If y'all try to read the Black Book in Skyrim mainland, nothing will happen and a message will pop upwards, saying: "A vision of Solstheim swims before your eyes and then is gone." The same situation also occurs with the other Black Books.
  • Dissimilar the other sections of Apocrypha accessed through Black Books, you tin can never return to the first five chapters of this expanse afterward you defeat Miraak, then be sure to selection up any items you don't wish to leave backside before mounting Sahrotaar.

Bugs [edit]

  • After y'all teleport into Chapter VI, the platform on which y'all are supposed walk to the Word Wall and and so fight and tame Sahrotaar does not announced, and attempting to walk forward results in swimming through pettiness for a moment and and so falling a brusque distance to a ordinarily-hidden rock floor below the normally-visible platforms of the level. Using the console command getstage dlc2mq06 reveals that the quest phase at this signal is 220 (listed below equally an empty phase) and the objective is "Reach Miraak's Temple." Using the console to set any stage across 220 does non resolve this issue because the trigger for Sahrotaar to appear is the thespian's learning of the Word of Power.
    • PC Using the console command tcl to turn collision off and then moving straight forward just above the black water will soon bring y'all to the Word Wall, which begins to pulse whitely to the accompaniment of the familiar Discussion Wall music as you lot approach. Aiming your movement toward the pulsing white letters of the Word Wall until you are shut enough to acquire the Word of Power will trigger Sahrotaar's advent, and later on using "Curve Will" on him, you can click on him for a ride direct to Miraak's temple without fighting annihilation forth the way. One time you dismount at the temple, be sure to use the command tcl to turn collision back on before against Miraak. The quest should proceed usually from there.
  • In the final battle with Miraak, at whatsoever indicate he may freeze in his invulnerable state. This effect sometimes occurs when you perform numerous attacks very rapidly or deal a very big corporeality of impairment from a single attack. This issue tin as well occur if Sahrotaar attacks Miraak while he is in his ethereal state.
    • PC Only This bug is fixed by version 2.0.7 of the Unofficial Dragonborn Patch. (details)
    • Reloading a save from before the boxing begins should set up this, but doesn't always piece of work.
    • If reloading doesn't help, try hiding behind a big column of books. If you are a long altitude from Miraak and out of his line of sight, and then expect a couple of minutes, he may re-materialize and attack you.
    • If reloading doesn't seem to help: if you can manage to kill all the dragons before wounding Miraak, then once y'all deplete his wellness, the fight will go right to the scene with Hermaeus Mora. However, this doesn't always work out this manner.
    • PS22.png Create a new save at the point when all dragons are dead and Miraak is intangible and ignoring you. Quit and restart the game. Load the file you only saved. There is a short pause. Then Miraak calls out "Kruziikrel! Relonikiv! At present!" There is a second pause. Then Miraak says "Ah, now we can cease this!" There is a third interruption and finally Miraak attacks y'all in solid class and you tin defeat him to complete the quest. Do not movement around or otherwise try to engage him during the pauses. Expect for him. Note, Miraak might only pause once or assail without hesitation. Notation this solution does not always piece of work.
    • PC Open the panel, click on Miraak, and type resurrect i or ResetHealth.
    • One cause of this bug may be that any of the dragons are stuck in flight and will refuse to land, making it impossible for Miraak to absorb their souls. Using Dragonrend on whatever dragon in flight should fix this.
    • PS22.png When Sahrotaar approaches the battle area, practise not dismount, have Sahrotaar pick i of the other dragons to assail and. Your character should select lighting spells and also assail from dragon-back the other dragons. The lighting, in addition to existence an instantaneous spell which doesn't require aiming in this context, will bleed the other dragons of magic and force them to land. Continue damaging the other dragons until they are dead. Then finally land Sahrotaar and kill him, so finally attack Miraak.
    • As a last resort, instead of attacking Miraak, mount Sahrotaar, then have him lock onto Miraak and assault him. Eventually Sahrotaar will land and attack Miraak on the ground. Each fourth dimension Sahrotaar is about to terminate its assail, command it to attack Miraak again, which will forestall information technology from taking flight. Eventually, Miraak will kill Sahrotaar, arresting its soul and throwing you to the ground. Immediately use the Bend Will shout and mountain the second and third dragons, then echo the above steps until all three dragons have been killed. Miraak should be engaged in combat again.
  • Afterward Miraak is defeated his corpse may fall through the floor preventing his items from being looted.
    • PC Using the console control actor.moveto xx01fb99 will bring you to the place that Miraak fell to. It is correct beneath the place you fight him, on standable ground. You can also employ the control tcl to plow off standoff to clip through the flooring, loot his corpse, then move back up to the surface. Use tcl once again to plow collision dorsum on.
  • Sometimes Miraak will not absorb dragon souls, leaving him unable to heal himself and thus permanently ethereal during the fight as you steal all of his dragon souls.
    • This may exist due to mods (or load society) that affect dragon soul absorption. Come across discussion tab.
    • This may be due to not killing any dragons later on starting the quest line as information technology never triggers him to steal dragon souls from you (which is possible if you have a few dragon souls saved up to use along the way).
  • When Sahrotaar lands almost Miraak before the battle and you dismount, you may glow yellow and lose all your wellness.
    • Exiting and restarting the game may fix this.
  • If yous prematurely pass through every chapter of the Blackness Book: Waking Dreams before Frea tells you to avenge her father, visiting Apocrypha may not prompt Miraak or the dragons to attack. At this point the quest is broken beyond whatsoever real hope of recovery. You can utilize the console to force the appearance of Sahrotaar, but upon defeating Miraak, he will stay permanently impaled on Mora's tentacle. You can forcefulness the terminate of the quest, but Mora will never speak and the Black Book volition never appear.
  • Sometimes Seekers may spawn already dead in Affiliate 2.
    • This may be due to the Seekers falling from the walkways on the upper levels, and sustaining fatal fall damage.
  • Sahrotaar may not appear on the platform, earlier you are meant to apply the Bend Will shout on him. ?
    • Ensure all 3 words of the dragon shout for Bend Volition are obtained and unlocked.
    • The quest may not have been entered into the journal, despite completing the prior quest. Use the panel command setstage dlc2mq06 200 then walk around the locked gate to trigger the next objective and he should arrive.
  • If you become fully subconscious in sneak manner, Miraak will come out of his ethereal state and will continue the fight.
  • When Miraak rises from the central pool of water impaled on a tentacle, his body may appear side by side to the tentacle rather than impaled on it. This does not bear on the progression of the quest, all the same.
  • Upon exiting the ethereal country you may be able to go along fighting Miraak, however should he re-enter his ethereal state a loop can occur where Miraak attempts to take the soul of one of his dragons. He may also get "fixated" on trying to absorb the soul of only ane of his two dragons, consistently calling for one of the dragons even if both take already been sacrificed.
  • After defeating Miraak, when the skill symbols are shown, heavy armor may not appear. ?
    • Reloading a relieve may fix this.
  • At the end of quest when yous beat Miraak, he may not be impaled past Hermaeus Mora.
  • The Black Volume: Waking Dreams may not teleport yous to Apocrypha, preventing you from completing the quest.
    • Using the console to spawn a new book, and reading the new one should fix this.
  • After you lot have returned to Solstheim the sky may appear equally if you lot are nevertheless in Apocrypha.
    • Fast traveling should fix this problem, although shadows may still be afflicted.
  • Xbox360.png If the seekers and lurker were not defeated Kruziikrel may fail to spawn. This volition lead to Miraak remaining invulnerable permanently while he tries to sacrifice Kruziikrel. Loading an before relieve and defeating the seekers and lurker will fix this. ?
  • Bend Volition may not work on Sahrotaar.
  • Even after solving the book puzzle in Affiliate V, you lot may exist unable to progress, as the book leading to Affiliate Half dozen is missing.
    • PC If this happens, you may utilise the console command coc DLC2Book01DungeonEnd01 to warp to the commencement of Chapter Half dozen.
  • Sahrotaar may get invulnerable and you may be unable to impale him. ?
    • This is fixed when Miraak becomes low on health and absorbs Sahrotaar'due south soul.
